NC State beats Boston College 76-62

http://news.google.com.pk/news/tbn/4grYjQ-Vv1AJA week after turning in a clunker to give away a winnable league game, North Carolina State wouldn’t squander a similar opportunity to build more momentum in Mark Gottfried’s first season. More >

Boston College at NC State: Not So Easy

The young Eagles take their show on the road once again tonight, this time heading to Raleigh to face new coach Mark Gottfried’s NC State Wolfpack. Boston College are currently 16-point underdogs to their opponents.

Now, you may be thinking this: sure, the Eagles are 7-10, but they’ve won their last two ACC games. Why are they such huge underdogs ?

The answer is simple, even though I personally believe the line is a little high: NC State is good. One can argue that Clemson and Virginia Tech are not that great, but the Wolfpack have put together a 13-5 record, and are also 2-1 in the conference. The closest thing NC State has to a bad loss in 8-9 Georgia Tech, to whom they fell last week.

Boston Celtics Paul Pierce Has Garbage Excuse

The Boston Celtics are absolutely playing the worst basketball of the last five years. The team is on a current five game losing streak and their play has been less then inspiring. If a team fails to score and falls behind by double digits in the first half due to sloppy play, they are not going to win. However, the team’s captain Paul Pierce had an interesting take on the situation. The fact the team has missed due to the lockout the month long training camp that got the players in basketball shape is the excuse to cling to. Pierce believes that the players are using these first few weeks to get their legs back. This is the largest pile of garbage I have heard in a very long time.

Globe to print, deliver Herald

The Boston Globe will print and deliver the Boston Herald, starting this month, as the tabloid seeks to cut costs and prepares to move from its headquarters in the South End, the two newspapers said.

Under terms of the deal, the Herald will pay the Globe an undisclosed sum to print and distribute its editions in the Boston area, enabling the Herald to eliminate the jobs of 53 truck drivers and other delivery personnel through layoffs and buyouts.

Jon Huntsman wins Boston Globe endorsement

Boston cardinal marks 10 years since abuse scandal

Ten years after the sex abuse scandal erupted in the Archdiocese of Boston, Cardinal Sean O’Malley has written a contrite public letter, faulting the church’s response and insisting that the church can never again fail to protect the young.

“As a church we must continue to express the depth of our sorrow and contrition for how badly we failed those entrusted to our care,” O’Malley wrote in a Wednesday (Jan. 4) pastoral letter.
