Boston Audit Committee of the City of Boston
Description:
Retains the services of an independent Certified Public Accounting firm which shall annually audit the accounts of the City. The Committee monitors the progress of the audit, meets with the accounting firm at least quarterly, reviews the recommendations of the firm and presents to the Mayor and City Council such recommendations.

MGL Chapter 190, Section 14: Ordinance: Under provisions of Chapter 190, Section 14, Acts of 1982. Members: 5 members appointed by ** Term 5 years. "There shall be appointed by the mayor subject to confirmation by the city council, and audit committee of five members, all residents of the city of Boston, whose members shall service for five years, except that of those first appointed, one shall be appointed for a term of five years, another for four years, another for three years, another for two years, and another for one year. Menbers shall serve without compensation; but may be reimbursed for expenses necessarily incurred, and shall be deemed special municipal employees for the purposes of chapter two hundred and sixty-eight A of the General Laws. The city shall retain the services of an independent, certified public accounting firm which shall annually audit the accounts of the city. The audit committee shall monitor the progress of such audit and shall meet with accounting firm at least quaterly. The said committee shall review the recommendations of the firms and shall present to the mayor and city council such recommendations as it may have."

Description:
oversees the conduct of elections in the City of Boston, in accordance with all relevant federal, state, and municipal laws. In its capacity as the Boston Listing Board, chaired by the Boston Police Commissioner, the Board also conducts the Annual Listing of Boston residents.

St. 1913, Chapter 835, section 78 The election department of Boston shall be under the charge of a board of election commissioners consisting of four citizens and voters of Boston who shall be appointed by the mayor; and chapter 486 of the acts of 1909, and all other acts relating to departments of Boston, or the officers and employees thereof, not inconsistent herewith, shall be applicable to said department and the officers and employees thereof. The board shall be so selected that two members shall always belong to each of the two leading political parties; and one member shall annually be appointed for the term of four years, beginning with the first day of April in the year of his appointment. The mayor shall annually, on or before the fist day of April, designate one member as chairman for the year beginning with said day, and may, after notice and hearing, remove any member for cause. The chairman of the board shall receive an annual salary of four thousand dollars, and each of the other commissioners three thousand five hundred dollars, or such other salary as the city council may be ordinance prescribe.
