Pierce Redefines Legacy In Boston

Take a good look at Paul Pierce right now, the day after he etched his name in Celtics’ lore forever by surpassing Larry Bird for the No. 2 spot on the storied franchise’s all-time scoring list.

He’s a rarity in this day and age, a player that has toiled for the same franchise since the day he was drafted and endured all the ups and down anyone’s career could stand and is still thriving 14 years deep into what could very well end up being a Hall of Fame career.

Super disappointment for Super Bowl Patriots

Hundreds of officers who lined the streets of Boston had little to do as fans quietly mourned their team’s Super Bowl loss Sunday night, but 14 people were arrested across the state at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst when police in riot gear dispersed a rambunctious crowd.

“We’re really sad right now,” said Molly Mackenzie of Boston, who was watching at a bar near Fenway Park with two friends as the Patriots lost the NFL championship to the Giants for the second time in five years. “It was a good game, really close.”

Breaking up the “Big Three” in Boston

The time has come for the Celtics. Danny Ainge is publicly considering breaking up the “big three.” Boston fans can tell you their team is aging. There is no doubt the skill sets of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen have regressed over the past few seasons. The question remains should Ainge start shopping. If he does, who is on the market ?

Paul Pierce could bring the highest value. Pierce is in his 13th year in the NBA at 34 years old. He averages 22.1 PPG in his career and has averaged 18.3, 18.9 and 16.5 in the last three seasons. Contract wise Pierce is a friendly trade prospect. With three years left on his current contract, he will be paid approximately $15 million.

Boston College at NC State: Not So Easy

The young Eagles take their show on the road once again tonight, this time heading to Raleigh to face new coach Mark Gottfried’s NC State Wolfpack. Boston College are currently 16-point underdogs to their opponents.

Now, you may be thinking this: sure, the Eagles are 7-10, but they’ve won their last two ACC games. Why are they such huge underdogs ?

The answer is simple, even though I personally believe the line is a little high: NC State is good. One can argue that Clemson and Virginia Tech are not that great, but the Wolfpack have put together a 13-5 record, and are also 2-1 in the conference. The closest thing NC State has to a bad loss in 8-9 Georgia Tech, to whom they fell last week.
