A rival company has filed a lawsuit against the city of Boston in an attempt to reverse a $22.5 million public school lunch service contract won by Whitsons Culinary Group, of Islandia, a published report says.
The Boston Globe reports that the losing bidder in the Boston schools contract, Preferred Meal Systems Inc., has filed a lawsuit in Suffolk County, Mass., Superior Court saying Boston.

Jonathan backs off criticism of Boston fans

Former Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon backed off his criticism of Boston baseball fans on Monday.
Papelbon said he meant no harm and didn’t mean to rip Boston fans when he said on Philadelphia radio station 94-WIP earlier in spring training that the difference between Boston and Philadelphia is, “the Boston fans are a little bit more hysterical when it comes to the game of baseball. The Philly fans tend to know the game a little better, being in the National League, you know, the way the game is played.”

Boston cruises past Toronto

Benoit Pouliot paced an offensive attack with two goals and an assist, as the Boston Bruins dominated the Toronto Maple Leafs, 8-0. Tim Thomas only needed to make 13 saves for his fifth shutout of the season for the Bruins, who went 6-0 against Toronto this season. Boston became the first of these teams to sweep the other in a season series since the Maple Leafs joined the Eastern Conference in 1998-99.
Brian Rolston had a goal and three assists for Boston, which has won two straight since a four-game skid. Chris Kelly, Gregory Campbell, Brad Marchand, Zdeno Chara and Tyler Seguin also lit the lamp.

Power restored to Boston’s Back Bay Friday

NSTAR said it restored power to all its remaining customers throughout Boston’s Back Bay early Friday, after a transformer fire caused widespread outages on Tuesday. But a scheduled outage at 3 a.m. on Saturday will leave 8,000 without power, which will last up to three hours “barring any unforeseen circumstances.
The areas that will be affected by the scheduled outage are Beacon Street to Boylston Street, and Kenmore Square to Copley Square. The reason for the scheduled outage is so crews can work to replace the temporary power source and give residents and businesses permanent power.
